Job Description
Job Overview:
The Grants Manager will help in maintaining and running the PPHPZ sub-granting portfolio. Reporting to the Programme Coordinator and working closely with the Finance Manager, this position will work closely with the program’s team and sub grantees to ensure timely and accurate grant reporting, maintenance of grant records and providing leadership on sub-granting, identification of risks and implementation of the mitigation measures. The Grants Manager will be charged with the responsibility of tracking Grant budgetary spending, overseeing the disbursement of the grant funding to the beneficiaries.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing and supporting sub granting requirements and implementation process.
- Identify and develop strategies to optimize the grant administration process.
- Ensure timely disbursement of fund to the grantees.
- Coordinate and work closely with other partner in the Voices for Just Climate Action (VCA) Programme in effective administration of the grant.
- Engagement of key stakeholders e.g. Government, NGOs, Churches, banks etc.
- Development of tools and key project documents.
- Advertisement of the Calls and lead the selection process for grantees and formalize the partnerships with selected groups.
- To prepare the sub-grantees, develop a workplan and budget.
- To capture impact stories and promote sustainability during the closeout phase and advocate for more funds targeting local action.
- Conduct induction meeting(s), workshop(s) with grantees, VCA local partners. Share expectation Risk Assessment Evaluation of capacity of groups/organizations- Reporting/ Documentation.
- Coordinate quality control checks and review all grant materials through monitoring of paper work and other related documents connected with sub-granted projects.
- Help in creating timely and accurate periodical grant financial and narrative progress report and consolidation.
- Identify risks facing the grant and share with the management and support with the implementation of mitigation measures for the identified risk.
- Follow-up with the sub-guarantees to ensure compliance in terms of key deliverables.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university, preferably in Finance and Accounting, Project Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience working at Senior Level, two (2) of which must be in the NGO sector and in a community/grassroot led organization (added advantage).
- Superior working knowledge in computer office applications and online collaboration tools such as; google products, MS excel, report writing skills.
- Excellent planning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and residents in the informal settlement.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and produce quality results on time with attention to details.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact culturally, linguistically, and diplomatically with diverse internal and external networks.
- Experience with basic financial management/project management (sub granting) skills including developing and monitoring.
- Valid Membership with ZICA or relevant professional body.
